Rem 700 & 788 Stocks
Will a rem 788 action fit in a 700 stock? If so, is the only mod that is needed a leaf spring and mag follower?

No. I do not know about modifying the 700 . Best, Robert

rballi,
The 788 receiver will not fit and function in a 700 stock. The action screws and trigger are spaced differently. The 788 is fed by (I hate using this term) a clip inserted through the triggerguard. This clip is a single, vertical stack type, special only for the 788's. The 700 uses a triggerguard/magazine combination that allows for cartridges to be emptied out of the bottom via a hinged floorplate. This is the BDL set up. The ADL is a solid bottom stock using an internal magazine consisting of a box, spring and follower.
Let me know if this isn't clear and I'll try to locate some resources with photos.
Regards.

Thanks for the responses. I know exactly what the two rifles are and how they operate. I guess my main question is/should be that if the action and/or barrel screws will line up. I was thinking about putting a 788 action in a 700 ADL stock and adding the internal box mag and follower. 0
