SKS - Chines vs Yugo

I bought one of the Yugo SKS's with a Grenade Launcher a while ago. It shoots pretty good and is in good shape. I recently got a Chinese SKS in a package deal with another gun. I really don't need 2 SKS's, and I kinda need the extra $$$ to get a S&W Mod 36 3" I have my eye on.

Question is, which SKS to keep. I like the Yugo because it's different, I like the Chinese because it's in a little better shape and has a chrome lined bore. Both have blade type bayos.

Which would you keep, and why?

    I would keep the Chinese SKS because it's in better shape and because of the chrome bore. The chrome bore will stand up better to mil surplus eastern bloc ammo. The grenade launcher doesn't do anything for me.

    If the Chinese is a Norinco,hold on to it they function flawlessly and with routine maintenance it will last forever.But I must say I would like to get a Yugo SKS its on my wish list.

    I have sold and shot a LOT of SKS rifles. I found ALL of the chinese guns including those that were imported made from parts up to battlefield pick ups to be as reliable as any gun made. Hard to find a bad one. I saw a like new Yugo and my jaw hit the floor. The finish and bluing beat most commercial rifles of any kind with wood to match. If Ruger made it you'd have a $500 gun. Workmanship was pristine. I doubt one would shoot better than another and little if any corrosive ammo is around for these guns. To be blunt collecting SKS rifles can be affordable and fun. I find few complaints with any SKS. The prices on the Yugo's is nice, but I notice most of the "issued" guns have stock carvings with names, dates etc. Obvious they were issued to folks who got bored.
    No matter which SKS you buy the odds are you got a good one. commie guns often look horrid by our standards, but they shoot. At least the ones I've been exposed to for sport and BUSINESS in the 60's.

    I have a Norinco "paratrooper" sks. I love it! Very accurate cost me $150, 4yrs ago. It's almost not worth selling in that it's priceless. It has no value other than $150. You might think about holding on to them or give one of them away. Just not worth selling something so inexpesive.

    I would keep the Chinese one and sell the Yugo. You can find yugos all over the place to replace it with later.

    I bought a Norinco sks for 190.00 last year. I bought it for some cheap plinking fun. It turned out to be the most reliable, best shooting rifle I own, (so far). I'm not sure about the yugo, but my chinese norinco shoots very well.

    I have found just the opposite. In my area, Chinese SKS are all over the place. Yugo are a little harder to find. I did a side by side comparison and I think the Yugo is better made. It has milled parts and the Chinese has stamped parts. The Yugo has a threaded barrel, the Chinese is pressed and pinned. I think I'll sell the Chinese and keep the Yugo. I have heard of gas tube problems with the yugos, mine functions fine and is reasonably accurate for an SKS; pie plate groups at 100yds is about what it does for me.

    Chinese are ALL milled for recievers etc. Not all Chinese have pinned barrels...only SOME later manufacture. And there is NO difference on performance from pinned to threaded bbl. NONE.

    The only problem with the yugo is that the gas tube assembly is different than all the other sks's. If you ever need replacement parts they are more expensive for the yugo's.

    I have both a yugo and a chinese and the yugo seems to have some jamming problems. It might be this particular rifle but I will take the chinese one ovewr the yugo any day.
