Hart, Shilen, Douglas, Lilja are the barrels to choose from. Probably a couple more that I didn't list. To rebarrel with a select match barrel and get it done right you're going to spend 5-550 bucks. If you are going to rebarrel go with a match grade barrel! Some people have been known to ask, "Does Remington make barrels?" Little humor there! GHD

GHD, as always, is spot on. There are so many aftermarket stainless match barrel companies, you could fill a book with them. Just get a match grade, select stainless, barrel. Have it chambered and threaded, floated by a reputable gunsmith with benchrest rifle building experience, and you will have probably one of the most accurate rifles you have ever shot.

    also research:
    Pac-Nor barrels
    Kreiger barrels

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

Your friendly local gun mechanic charges just as much to install a 50 dollar barrel as he does to install a 250 dollar one, so the cost difference in the barrel itself becomes small. Besides, human nature will cause him to do his best work on a "top name" tube as opposed to a quick and dirty job with a "el-cheapo" barrel

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

GD is on-target, as usual, but could have had a better group if he'd added the names of "Boots" Obermeyer (Obermeyer Rifle Barrels, 23122 60th Street, Bristol, WI 53104, (262) 843-3537) and Krieger (http://www.kriegerbarrels.com). These boys will - without doubt - give you the most bang for your buck.
