What is Stevens-Springfield?

I know that Savage bought out Stevens, but I have an old Stevens-Springfield rifle. Does it have any connection to Springfield as we know them today? It is an old single shot .22 built that was purchased new in 1942. Any info is appreciated.

  Hey dh--"Springfield Arms Co." was another brand used by the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. No connection with the government's Springfield Armory.

  The Savage-Stevens plant was in Chicopee, MA, a suburb of Springfield.
