champion shotgun

Any one out there ever heard of a old shotgun called champion the breech plate flips over to the right has a very large hammer on the the side can not make out the proof marks yet but the barrel seems to be solid well i don't see any ring marks in it has a steel butt plate just got it to day i brought it because its odd look will try to give more information has a lot of rust.

    I agree with Nord...sounds like a Zulu...It started life as a French Model 1857 Muzzle-Loading Percussion Rifled Musket! Then in the Late 1860's they were converted to Breechloaders using the Snider type Action, Many seeing action in the Franco-Prussian War.1880. Sold as obsolete and surplus to Belguim Arms Dealers circa 1874. they were quickly altered into inexpensive shotguns to make them saleable to a Civilian Market...Zulu seemed to be a good name and so was adopted to give the gun a little punch in a Sales gimmic..Sometimes they were called "The Hunter"..There were other old muskets that were altered in the same fashion and all were sold thru Hardware Stores and Mail Order House across the Land...They Sold for a modest $4.00 to $4.50...
    They have very little collector value on todays market..And under No circumstance be fired with any Modern Shot Shell...even Low Base Shells could be to much for this old Turkey...Hang it on the Wall and make up a good story to go with the name of ZULU...

    thank a lot guys that is the reason i bought it is to put on the wall because it is odd and ugly it has to be able to attrack attention but i am glad to know not to try to fire it because i was thanking about it thats why i mention the barrel its good to be able to ask someone who. RUSTY1
