Value of Old Military Colt 1911

Hello: What would a military Colt 1911 be worth? As for the condition, it appears to be all original but has virtually no finish left on it. It has the Patent and Colt Manufacturing stamps on left side of slide and "Model of 1911 U.S.Army" on the right side. Frame has "No 134XXX" (changed to protect the innocent, but this should give you an idea of the age) on right side and "United Stes Property" on left side.

I have always been told not to refinish older vintage guns as it destroys the value but wondered about refinishing this one.

  I would expect it to sell in the $500-600 range. I prefer to keep old guns with honest wear just as they are; they have a certain amount of character.
  
  But, with this much wear, it has little collector value. Refinishing it would probably not decrease the value much, if at all. If that's what you want to do, don't worry about it.

  Just got a new copy of the Blue Book today. It lists your gun as made by Colt in 1916. Value is $375 (60% condition)to $2300 (100% condition) unless reworked: Parkerized and restamped with the arsenal initials.

  The gun in the condition you described is probably worth 325 to 375.according to the gun blue book.
