ok Kalifornia experts.... bushmaster/colt sporter?
I am old enough to remember when the M16 was first being used and have seen it get to the point where everything is being put on the "laundry list" of ban's...
Do I have a chance of getting a bushmaster/sporter style "m16" while living in this god for saken state or would I be better off spending 1000 dollars on a highdollar paintball gun and pretend i bought a sporter...
god it's depressing each time I decide to add a toy to the toybox.. it's gettting harder to find unique toys....
to anyone in law enforcment.. i have a question for you.. when was the last time a gang member in california bought his gun at a authorized ffl dealer?? and then commited a crime?

Just as with the HK SL-8, the Bushmasters are banned in California as assualt weapons. Just so you will understand what is going on I'll explain the three sections of the law briefly. Catagory 1 are firearms which are banned by manufacturer and model- like AR-15. Catagory 2 are those firearms which the state Attorny General deems as identical to Catagory 1 firearms, except for maker or model- like Bushmaster. Catagory 3 are firearms banned by features such as pistol grips, thumbhole buttstocks, flash hidders ect.- like the SL-8, which has a thumb hole stock.
Catagory 1 firearms had to be registered prior to 1990 while all others had to be registered by 2000. There are no exceptions built into the law for private individuals to import or register firearms which were not previuosly registered before the cut off dates. I am a dealer here in Orange County and I can assure you that no dealer would risk selling you ANY assualt weapon as of this date due to the issue of liability.

Mr.Christian related to you the facts. I am also FFL 01 licensed
in the state of California. Going on fifteen years, subject to the elections. I do not sell in this state as there are so many variables.
What you enquired about is about impossible. You may move to Nevada.
The laws are unfortunately terrible in California but must be obeyed
unless you wish to spend your life in "TWIN TOWERS". The suggestion of a M1A1 is very feasible but must be California legal-no problem.

Actually DPMS (I believe) makes a Kalifornia lower which is a single shot and has no mag well, recently I seem to remember seeing in ShotGun News another Kalifornia lower that has a permenent 10 round mag, something about the mag well is hollowed out but they leave a bottom in it for a floor plate ... you have to open it up and there is a stripper clip guide thats also built into the well.

Thats pretty cool Kimber Kid I hadn't heard or seen that before. But will those lowers take anything but .223 ammo? If so your upper selection is somewhat limited 
I 2nd the M1A, the Mini-14 would be another choice.
I have a Mini-14 and will be buying a M1A next year.
But if you want AR-15 type accuracy with a Mini-14 you won't get it without approx. $500 worth of custom work.0 -
