Shot in my sons 7mm-08 today... sure did take some time....... never did have any "fliers".... after the first box.......the next seven shots were 1.5" at 100 yrds....... If ya take one of dem out it was 7/8" group of six shots............................................. I was shooting federal preminum 140 gr nosler
ballistic tips ......... the little savage youth model #11 shot really well , at least I think......... Thanks for the info on the break in.....

Outstanding! Glad it shoots well, 7/8" six shot group is nothing to sneeze at - sounds like a nice rifle. Glad I could help in some way.
Is he gonna be hunting with it this year? If so, you might want to shop around (i.e. shoot many different brands) of hunting ammo to see what the rifle likes best.

Thanks Trader,,,,,,, Yes , In Fact he hunted with it yesterday evening.... You got me a little confused..... It seems to me the gun likes those federal's........ Or you mean , that particular round is what you don't like......... He'll be shooting whitetail (200 lb) or less ,,, and for now I won't let him shoot over 175 yrds... That seems to be his limit range for now.... He killed a doe last year at 95 yds with my model 100 .243......... Oh yea we saw nothing last night....... He hunted in a box stand with his mom and sister...... I hunted in the woods and saw nothing either.......

Its my fault, I've never equated ballistic tips with hunting ammo, I always use soft lead pointed stuff. If they work, then stick with them.
The whole family hunting together is awesome. I wish my wife like to hunt, but she only wants to knock down those steel plates with her pistolas. I'll take what I can get though.
Oh and I left you a message on the 'General Discussion' forum yesterday. I just brought it back up to the top.
Our Capt. is probably going to shut this one down.
