Old Browning A-5

Hi, Im new to this site and would like to ask a question regarding an old shotgun that I own. Im no gun guru, so I dont know all about the gun. The gun is an old browning A-5 that my great grandfather bought when he was 14. The gun was manufactured in 1904, or at least that is the date on the barrel. On the barrel it says it is a Browning, but also has the Remington name on it as well. It looks fairly similar to some of the other A-5's for sale on this site, but there is one distinguishing thing that I have not seen on the other guns. The safety is the really old style that looks more like a second trigger. To put the gun in safe mode, you push the safety back flush with the trigger, the forward again to place the gun in fire position. I have never seen another A-5 with this safety on it. Can anyone tell me more about this gun? How rare is it, or is it at all? I would never sell the gun, but I would like to know what it is worth. If there is more information that you would need, let me know and Ill do the best I can to get it to you.

  You have a Remington Model 11 (or pre model 11). They were made from 1905 to 1948. Close to a million total. The old style safey which you have was changed in 1928 to a cross bolt safety. Give us the serial number to find what year your gun was made. Value will depend on condition and features. Does it have a solid or vent rib? Engraving? any alterations such as a variable choke or recoil pad? A standard grade, plain barrel gun in fair condition is worth about $200.
