Ingrams/Mac10's &Class III
I want to start collecting class III weapons. I have been looking at the prices of H&K's , Uzi , etc. They are all expensive except for the mac 10's and similar type guns. I want to start slowly but was wondering if these guns are low quality or what. Will dealers work with buyers looking for full auto guns or are the prices some what written in stone. I know absolutly nothing about Class III buying and selling, any information, suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Spend at least 4 months reading the Class 3 boards.
There is a vast store of info there.
MAC 10s are neat and Powder Springs guns work well.
They cost about $30 to build.

they used to be a dime a dozen, but you won't build any more of them for $30.00.....i don't think that they'll go up in value for a good while, but still a neat little, entry level class III gun to get you started......

Class III weapons are for the well-off, and the foolish. If you have a high paying job, lots of money in the bank, no debts, & the kids' college has been paid for, go right ahead and buy a couple. Avoid the cheap entry level stuff; buy quality like an H-K, or a Ruger AC556, or a Colt M16. Otherwise, forget about it and invest your money in stocks, bonds, etc.
Expensive fun isn't always fun, but it's always expensive.

Class III firearms are actually an excellent investment when compared with stocks and bonds. For example, according to BATF the largest concentration of Class III's per capita in Texas is in University Park, which is one of the most upscale areas in the state. Those bankers and corporate exec types know a good investment when they see one.
Take a look at what selling prices were five years ago, then compare them against today's prices. There are very few places you can put your money and expect it to grow at this rate, especially considering that they'll continue to gain value rapidly even though you're putting lots of rounds through them. The only way other firearm types even come close to this rate is if you keep them locked away in a safe and only take them out to wipe them down every now and then.
The tough part about collecting/owning Class III firearms is getting started. The problem is the longer you wait the higher the start-up prices will be. I'd recommend that you scope out the boards to educate yourself on the market while you build your funds, then go for the most collectable one you can afford.
MAC10's haven't increased in value over the years as much as others, only about 200% over the last 15-20 years. They're also serious ammo hogs and can be a bear to hit with unless you install a rate reducer, but they're still neat little toys.0 -

Check the laws on Class III firearms for your city and state first. Next if you plan on shooting them find a place that will allow them. TXS was right about the investment potential, but there is a catch. The paperwork and restrictions to own them make them diffcult to sell.
They are fun, turn heads when you let them roar and if bought right will hold their value.

There came a point in my life where I didn't let common sense override my desire to buy something just for the enjoyment of having it. I never would have said that 30 years ago. The Mac 10 is affordable and about as reliable as my Tec-9! Still, I'm glad I bought it. The AC556 is drop dead beautiful. I elected to get a factory model instead of a converted Mini. The only difference is that the factory guns have a 3 shot burst mode. It was worth a few hundred extra for that feature to me.
Don't buy one with the thought of making a financial killing - hey they all could be confiscated! Buy one because you believe you will enjoy owning it.
