I was wondering if any one had any pics of the damage cause by the bolt in the reciever of the 742. As a reference of what to look for.
Thanks

I recently bought a Rem. 742 thru gun brokers. It is a nice gun, butit seems everyone knew they were worthless ,but me.Three Rem.Artherized gun smiths told me so.One said "I have a pile of them out back that I threw away."Everyone I asked at a gun show said the same thing-NO PARTS AVAILAIBLE ,only junk.My question; Why do none of the gun value books say so? 0 -
Hi Donna,
Welcome to the forum. Your Son received a special gift, I know I treasure the shotgun that my Grandfather left to me.
That rifle/scope package will probably run in the $300-$400 range. It is not really collectable at this time. It may be in 25, 50, 100 years, you never know. It is, however, a fine hunting rifle.
If interested you and your son should check around the local gun clubs/ranges for shooting lessons and check around for a hunter's education course put on by your state's Department of Fish and Wildlife.
If not interested in using it, please don't make him sell it. It is something he may become interested in later, and he will appreciate that rifle as it came from his Grandfather.
