where to find ifo on ARs

i was looking for someone to aid my knowledge of the AR topic. i am looking into getting shorty 16" ar. i prieced a bushmaster in hawaii, it was over 1000. i was at a gun show today and i can get an olympic arms lower for 299.

my questions: where can i find info on interchangablility of the ARs. if i buy an olympic lower, can i put a 308 upper on it? will it take just an olympic upper? what is the quality of an olympic lower or upper? id like to have a 223 upper, a 7.62x 39 upper and a 308 upper. are there other quality recvrs or uppers to look at?

  I am glad I am not in Hawaii.
  
  I think a Bushmaster M4 in A3 with the mini y-comp is about 850 in my area.

  Also look at the Olympic arms website. They often run sales.
  No you can't hang an upper in 308 on it. The magazine well is too small. Most uppers of one brand will interchange and fit any lower except the small pin Colts but I believe adaptor pins are available to take care of the problem.
