HK SL8 .223 Legal in California

I was hopeing to purchase an HK SL8, but i live in one of the most paranoid anti gun states there is. Does anyone know if it's legal to have one in California?

Clean background and no record so the check isnt a problem.. although politics might be...

  Welcome to the forum... Sorry, but the SL8 falls under the definition of an "Assault Weapon" so it would not be legal in Cal.
  Unfortunatly, even if you could find someone who was selling one that was already in the state, you could not buy it. The only way an assault weapon can be sold is if it is going out of cal. If you were in law enforcement you could get a letter from your Chief to buy this type of gun, but adsent that your out of luck.
