Colt 1889 Navy

I just acquired one and it needs some attention (ie) the cylinder spins freely. I live in WA. Are there any Colt "smiths" in my area or should I send it to Colt? It's a solid 90% revolver and I want to keep it that way. Thanks, Bill

  These were made from 1889 to 1894. The two I have are 38 long colt. I see cowboy action ammo is available in black powder and smokeless. Am I correct in assuming these would be black powder?

  I am sure Colt will not have any parts for a revolver this old, and Colt does not repair antiques, except for perhaps Single Action Army revolvers. It sounds like the bolt spring is broken or missing. Using flat spring stock, one could probably make a spring fairly easily. If the revolver is truly 90% and has not be refinished, I might be interested in it if you want to sell it. Please e-mail me at judgecolt45@hotmail.com if you care to discuss it further.
