Reloading 9mm - Cost & Equipment
I have never reloaded pistol ammo, but us a Mec 9000g to reload .410, 28 and 20 gauge. What is the cost per shell to reload 9mm with a jacketed bullet and what kind of press and components are recommended? Thanks.

skb, as a reasonable rule of thumb, you can figure to load pistol ammo with jacketed bullets for roughly 50% of retail. OTOH, if you watch for loss leader sales of 9mmP & buy in quantity, the savings may be less. Recommended types of equipment and components vary enormously depending on volumes and individual preferences . . . you would have to give more guidance than this bare bones request. In general, you will find loading metallics somewhat simpler than shotshells. 0 -
using ammo in a submachine gun, uzi, and was curious if i could come out by reloading vs. factory shells. shooting a couple thousand rounds a year.

When I reload 9mm for myself I use pplated as opposed to jacketed bullets. Less expensive and easier on the barrels because they are softer. I figure that I have 1.3 in primer, 1.0 TO 1.8 PER ROUND IN POWDER, 4 to 5 per bulet ans 1.0 in cases. I don't reuse my 9mm cases, because I feel that I can buy processed once fired one cheaper than i can clean them myself. so that comes to ? about 3.50 a box on brass that I didn't have to pick up off the ground.

It is really hard to come out on the 9mm. I figure if I pick up used brass and buy everything in bulk, it costs me about $3 for 50 rounds. I can buy 100 rounds of bulk pack new Winchester 115 fmj form Walmart for $11. I load 9mm just for the heck of it. I am retired and my time is not worth much. 0 -
