I JUST HAD A S/R M-1889 COME INTO THE SHOP THAT LOOKS LIKE A FACTORY CONVERSION TO .30/30. MARKINS ON THE BARREL ARE ".30/30 W.C.F. SWITZERLAND) & SER. #." HAS A SPORTERIZED STOCK & SPORTER SIGHTS, LOOKS LIKE THE CHAMBER HAS BEEN SLEAVED TO TAKE THE .30/30. ANYBODY EVER SEEN ONE OF THESE OR KNOW WHO DID THE CONVERSION? OUTSIDE OF SOME STORAGE RUST THE GUN LOOKS ALMOST NEW.

    There was an outfit in the 60's that offered these conversions for sale. It was one of the big name (at the time) outfits. I saw an ad for it in an old American Rifleman. I will look around and post the name.

    WIP has it right. A bunch were cut down and coverted to .30-30 and they were GREAT guns. Swiss quality like a watch and smooth as glass and a treat to shoot.
