    hunterinthethumb,

I think that the most important thing to look into is why the stock cracked in the first place. Just replacing the stock will not necessarily solve the problem. However...

Brownells carries several varieties of stocks for Mausers in synthetic, wood and laminates. Your Santa Barbara action is basically a standard Mauser 98 so looking for a stock is relatively easy. You will have to do some bedding and have the fore end reinforcing bolt installed by a competent gunsmith or stockmaker. Having a stockmaker look at your existing stock and the crack will give him or her a good idea as to why the crack occurred in the first place. They can then help you correct the problem so that it doesn't happen again.

Dearnononsense; Thanks for the good info. The stock apparrently was broken by dropping or knocking the gun against something hard. I did not use the gun last season my sons did. Oh well. I re-sighted gun in last week and poi is still on. It broke thru the plastic foreend tip leaving a chip gone and slight crack in forend wood. Will look in the places you suggested and thanks very much. I knew the forum would come thru. Joe B. hunterinthethumb
