    No, The S@W will not stand the pressure. If you look at the cylinder wall thickness you will see it is very thin compared to the Ruger. Also the cylinder stop in the bottom of the frame lines up with the chambers and further adds to the problem.The Smith frame is samller compared to the Ruger as well. Besides these smiths are nice shotting guns, why would you want to beat one to death.

    This is essentially a target style gun--that alone should tell you that heavy loads are not appropriate. Although I don't take issue with those who shoot hot 45 Colt loads, it makes much more sense to use a 44 Magnum if muscle is what you are after.

    Thanks guys for the help. I do own a Dan Wesson 44 mag, and this is the pistol I hunt with. I have always wanted to have a model 25 Smith & Wesson in 45 long colt. I will be sure and use the low pressure loads to shoot.
