.410 shotgun

I recently received an old .410 shotgun beech load. Really don't know what to use it for but anyway i heard somewhere that you can shoot a .45 colt from one of theses guns with no changes needed. Though not trust that information to much I thought it safer to ask you guys first.

  Ever here that any landplane can be a seaplane once?
  
  It's an analogy the pertains to your .410 and I'd keep it in mind before you did something that you might regret.

  While there are some modern guns specifically designed for this such as the TC encore in 45/410 this is not safe in older guns. I suspect this may have been an occasional practice in the days of blackpowder loads when pressures were lower, but I repeat modern or any 45 ammo in this older gun IS NOT SAFE. Besides, accuracy in modern rifed barrel guns of this type is pretty miserable. I can only imagine what it would be out of a smoothbore.

  I have a single shot pistol that is approved for either. I have often wondered if the colt or 410 produces the most chamber pressure. Anyone know?

  saami lists 13,500 PSI for the 3 inch .410, 12,500 for the 2 1/2 inch .410 and 14,000 for the 45 Colt. I would have to assume the 45 Colt is low to take care of older revolvers.
