mak 90 HELP!
I just bought an American parts kit for my Mak 90 so I can fit it with a pistol grip etc. Do the gas tubes screw on/off of the Norincos? How do I get the pins out that hold the trigger and the hammer on? I tried hitting them with a punch but they wouldn't budge. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

The pins that hold the hammer and trigger are held in place by what they call a sheppards hook, which is a piece of spring steel wire shaped kinda like a sheppards staff. On the Norinco the easiest way to get it out is to remove the safety lever first, this frees the back end of it, then lift it straight up to get the trigger pin out which will release the tension to get the hammer pin out ... before you do this make a mental note or even a sketch as to how it's installed, because if you don't re-install it correctly it will pop out ... then your trigger and hammer will also it kinda takes the fun out of shooting it!
Are you using an US made stock set and the US made fire control group? If so, that counts as 6 parts and you dont need to replace the gas piston, only 5 US parts are required on the MAK-90 to use a pistol grip stock.
I recently did the same thing on my MAK-90, I got a lot of good info from www.ak-47.net and www.gunsnet.net
I got a white maple stock set from a seller here on GB and the adjustable fire control set from Red Star (the trigger is sweet!) I didn't replace the gas piston since I didn't need too so I can't help you with how thats replaced.
