Worst firearms ever bought
Since the moderator locked the topic, I would like to continue the post. Some of the worst firearms I have ever had any experience with have came from the Remington Custom shop, believe it or not. One custom KS Mountain rifle came in the shop, special ordered for a customer at $1300.00. Matt blue finish was rusted in several spots, and it did not even have an extractor in the bolt. The customer had ordered it for an expensive elk hunt, about 8 months ahead of time, and it showed up the week before the hunt. Needless to say, he did not take it on the hunt. Returned it to Remington, they installed a new extractor, did nothing about the blueing. upon test firing the extractor tore pieces of brass from the rim of the case. Return to Remington, fixed that problem, did not reblue. Gave up and removed the rust ourselves and touched it up with cold blue. Another custom KS would not shoot good ( 4-6" groups at 100 yards), tried several brands of factory ammo and about 8 different handloads, same thing, bad groups with all loads tried. Finally after threating a lawsuit, and calls to their states attorney general and better business bureau and threating to tell everyone we knew about their poor products they took it back and rebarreled it. Could list several other examples.
For years I have heard the rumors that the Mart stores got the 2nd's that could not pass inspection. Makes you wonder. For the most part, I have had very good luck with the Winchester M70, especially the newer Classic actioned rifles. At times, in the past, they have had some quality control problems, but I think every manufacture does from time to time. As the old saying goes, good help is hard to find.
