Smith & Wesson .38 hand ejector value

My friend has a Smith & Wesson .38 hand ejector, Military & Police Model. It is just about as new & in its original box which is also almost as new. It is serial # 7365 & was shipped from the factory October 29, 1900.
Do you have an idea as to the value of this pistol?

  The value for this model (if it is a civilian issue as opposed to a military model)would range from $650 to $175.
  
  The military models are marked on the barrel with different designations such as "38 mil" or "USN" ect.

  The Hand Ejector S&W revolvers of that period were very finely made. A new condition Hand Ejector in the box is worth hanging onto.
