Colt Cobra 38

I recently got a Colt Cobra 38 after the passing of my father.
I know he had this gun for many years.It is in excellent condition
having only around 30 rounds fired.I was wondering if anyone could
possibly tell me the value or where to go to look.Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

  James... welcome to the forum. There were 2 issues of cobras. The first were made from 1950 to 1973 and did not have a shrouded ejector rod and did have two piece wood grips. These range in value from poor cond- $100, to exc cond - $500.
  The second issue had a shrouded ejector rod, and wraparound walnut grips. These range in value fron poor cond- $100, to exc cond- $350.

  Obviously, the older the gun, the more it is worth. There are other variations besides what have been mentioned. Contrary to what LL states, the earliest guns will have plastic stocks instead of wood. There was a range of early guns that had "Dual Tone" finish. Another variation was created when the frame was shortened in 1966, etc..
  
  To gain a better idea of the value, you need to post the approximate serial number range.

  Your revolver appears to be about 1976 production. Now that you know the age, finish and condition, the Blue Book can give you an idea, but the auction sites are the best place to get real world figures.
