.17 magnum rifles.

Does anyone have info or personal experience on this cartridge and rifle. I am interested in the Ruger 77/17 and Marlin has a 17v rifle out. If there are aftermarket stuff, please let me know from whom.

  kanji. Welcome to GB! Yes I have experience with the 17HMR! In a nutshell it is the most amazing out of the box rimfire I've ever seen! I have been messing with accurate rifles for over 25 years specializing in varmint rifles or Benchrest configurations and when I took a Marlin 17VS out of the box, cleaned the barrel prior to shooting and then shot sub .5 inch 100 yard groups I was pretty well amazed. When I went to the 200 yard target and shot sub 1 inch groups I was absolutely astounded! I have used the 17 on a bunch of groundhogs and a bunch of crows. The longest measured and confirmed kills have been 202,206 and 206 on groundhogs. The round is deadly on varmints out to 150-160 yards. After that the little bullet is losing a lot of steam and only head or neck shots will give you a quick kill. But you can make those head and neck shots because the accuracy is there. I have not used or shot the Rugers but have put together 2 other Marlins, 1 another VS and the other a 17V. All 3 have had Nikon 4.5-14 scopes in Millett rings and all shot lik a house afire! I have yet to talk to anyone who has gotten bad accuracy from this cartridge. GHD

  I have 17v blue Shoot awsome GOTO rimfirecentral.com LOOK ALL Stuff
  out there. Marlin trigger easy to due. ONLY problem is aftermart stock
  Marlin or High Dollar custom stock 200.00 I got my .17 for 189.00 ammo at 9.50 in STL area..
