El Tigre

Recently I purchased a REPLICA Winchester 92 made by a spanish company (serial no. A 26XXX) it is marked "TIGRE" in cal 44-40.
It is in excellent condition, was part of an estate sale. At first glance looks almost new.

I have 2 questions:
1. Does anyone know about the year and serial number range for these rifles?
2. Did the company also make a REPLICA Colt 1873 SAA in 44-40 (was told they might have)?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

  The only one of these rifles I have seen was in .44-40 and was a copy of the 1892 Winchester. I thought they were made in South America.

  A long ,long time ago in a galaxy far,far away the El Tigre clone of the Winchester Model 1892 was fairly common. As has already been stated they were made in Spain and imported into this country as well as South America. The quality was never as good as the Winchester,but in the condition you describe would be safe for use with low powered smokeless loads. Do not try any soupped up loads or as a few guys did back in the '50's rechamber them to .44 Magnum. The Magnum really makes the parts fly! Because of this the El Tigre got a reputation as junk which it probably didn't deserve. In any case,have fun,be safe.

  I had a like new one in 1960. It looked mint as did the bore. However, it didn't shoot worth a damn and after taking it apart and seeing the poorly made parts, I sold it.
  Note that Tigre is another name for Puma. Knowing what I know about the Tigre I would also look askance at the Puma until proven otherwise.
