12 gauge auto cycling problems?

I had my 12 gauge auto out today and was experiencing cycling problems. I was using shells bought at discount in Walmart. They are called Winchester universal shotshells. They came 4 boxes in a little case for $15.00, well anyway the recoil from these shells seemed wimpy out of my double barrel. These shells then would not cycle my auto shotgun at least 90 percent of the time. My question is do ya'll know anything about these particular shells? Are their many different variances between field/trap loads. Anybody else have finicky auto's? By the way my auto is a Chicom SAS 12. Thanks in advance.

  I have shot them in Benelli SBE, and Browning semi auto with no problems. Those shells have 3 drams (equiv.) 1 1/8 ounce shot. These shells should cycle your auto.
  I am currently using 1,000 rounds of this stuff every week for trap.
  It shoots very clean (little residue in barrel).

  I AGREE WITH ALPINE. THE WINCHESTER UNIVERSALS ARE THE BEST OF THE INEXPENSIVE PRICED SHOTGUN SHELLS. I HAVE USE THEM WITHOUT PROBLEMS IN REM. 1100, AND BROWNING GOLD SHOTGUNS. THEY ARE ALSO RELOADABLE.

  Cheap low powered loads dont mix with the semi-auto.They wont cycle it most of the time.As to the ammo mentioned Im not familiar with it.

  I shoot them all the time out of my 11-87 and have never had any problems..

  I tried to shoot the ammo you mentioned out of my beretta xtrema this dove season. They didn't even have power enough to kick the empty round out of the chamber much less load another. The Texas heavy dove loads shot great though.

  Gun type here may be the problem. My buddy has a Browning A-500.With this gun you have to take it apart and make sure it is set up for light loads. (Flippin over a small ring is a technical as I can get on this)..
  
  I can shoot any shell thru my Benelli, Winchester super X, or Remmigington 1100. NO problem in the last 25 years other than very cold weather and thick gun oil before I learned.

  my winchester 1400 will not cycle light loads about 50% of the time, i stay away from light loads with low brass, also i have a russian baikal 3.5 mag that will not cycle anything that isnt at least 4 shot.

  It might have something to do with how it cycles. Maybe it want cycle recoil operated shotguns but gas ones.
