Winchester Info
Just bought a Model 70 XTR 30-06 on Gunbrokers. What does the XTR stand for? Paid $600, gun is in excellent condition and has scope, did I do alright or did I take a high hard one?

Any good books out there on winchester special order options? I have numerous and still collecting just wondering what might be out there? 0 -

I'm sure you probably know about George Madis's "The Winchester" book.
It is a good reference on Winchester lever guns. Lots of pictures of special order guns and rare options.
All of Ned Schwing's books are very well written and researched. His books on the "Slide action Rifles" volume l and ll covering the old pump 22's are exceptional. They go into some depth on special order options of those days.
Williamson's "History of Winchester" is a good book, but focuses mostly on the business end of Winchester.
"To the Dreams of Youth" is a very good book on Winchester single shot rifles. It covers all models from high and low walls to the youth guns such as 1902, 1904, 55, 58, 67 etc.
All of these books can be found here on the auction or on the other guys that we can,t mention. HTH
P.S. I can't afford to collect levers, but I have accquired some pretty nice single shot 22s.
