    I have what appears to be .38 cal RF shorts some have (U on bottom)and (Diamond on bottom)...what are they worth and what are they used in????

    The fences have been broken down...with the judicial gloss it has aquired--plainly is not adequate to protect the individual agenst the growing bureaucracy.

    (A) Not much. There are a gazillion of them out there and the only ones which are worth much of anything will have raised headstamps or be in some sort of exotic load (proof, multiball). A really nice gem mint box of 50 might bring as much as $50. Loose, figure $0.10 to $0.25 each. The "U" is probably Remington-UMC (could be UMC, but where they came mixed with the later Western loads, most likely not) and the diamond is Western. These were loaded up into the 1960s or so and these are likely some of those made circa 1930 - 1960.
    (B) Many inexpensive rifles (usually single shot) and handguns from the late 1800s, early 1900s.
