101 win. pigeon grade

I have a101 pigeon grade trap grade 12ga. 32in. barells this gun is used but not abused dealer says worth $700-800 max Iw0uld like to cut barrels to 28in. and have win.chokes added and use for skeet. if i leave it as is I would not get much use out of it. a gun in this condition would not be worth much $$ as a trade in . what is your thoughts on this.

  Check out www.gunshop.com/showler.htm He has quite a few pigeon grades for sale.
  
  Personally, $800.00 seems low for a 101 trap unless it is showing an extreme amount of wear or he is hoping to make a lot of profit when you sell it to him.

  I have never seen a "pigeon grade" sell that cheap in any guage.Just go buy a standard grade to shoot skeet. They don't make Winchesters or Pigeon grades anymore. Buy another and have twice the fun!

  Before you do anything check it out with a "Good" gunsmith. I also have a 101 and when i tried to get choke tubes i was told by a couple of gunsmiths that the barrels were too thin to be made to accept tube. You may be OK given the barrels wil be cut back but make sure of your source.

  If you have a caliper you can measure the OD of the barrel and you can determine from that measurement if regular choke tubes or thin wall choke tubes will work. The numbers are in a book in the shop, and I can get them tomorrow. Or you can call Colonial Arms (334) 872-9477 direct.

  I am voting with "nelchris". Obviously from his e-mail address, he and I both are bird hunters and use shotguns.
  
  If you want to part with this shotgun and do as "trickyricky" suggest and get another shotgun, then "nelchris" gets first "dibs" as he was here first, but if he doesn't jump all over $800, then I get the second shot at it. I will promise you that at $800 or even $900 -- sight-unseen, it is mine.
