    boyds in mitchell South dakota make stocks that sound what you are looking for they have web site but dont know the address i think they make the stocks for some of the howa rifle stocks with thumb hole. i dont have any of their stocks but understand they are pretty good.

    I think you would be happy with the Douglas or Shilen barrel. You can probably get the Douglas match barrel a little bit cheaper but the quality will be second to none! Unless you are a machinist yourself you're looking at 5-550 for a first class barrel job. The Douglas barrels have indicated exceptionally close from one end to the other that I have seen. Is the 3 inches of barrel worth that? GHD

    GHD, that extra 3 inches means the difference between 2975fps and 3185fps. so yes it is.

    I have a Boyd's laminate stock (JRS classic) on my Howa. If they make one to fit a Tikka, They are top of the line. They make a lot of the stocks for the manufactureres, so at least some of the stocks you have seen on new rifles were made by Boyd's. The laminates are a little heavier than the walnut or synthetics. For me, that helps reduce felt recoil a bit and is a good trade off for lugging it all day.
