Name of Colt S.A. Comm. w/playing cards grips.
Would like to know the Name of a Comm. Single Action made by Colt, I believe it had a short barrel, nickle finish, & white Grips with a deck of Playing Cards in color on them. It might be the Gambler ?? Or something to do with playing cards & gambling. Thanks

I guess nobody can answer my question about the Colt Comm. Maybe its the River Boat Gambler ? The Reason I'm asking is years ago I bought a pair of these grips in new condition & going to sell them on GB & it would help if I knew the name of the Colt Comm. they were made for when I list them. I agree with Saxon, I can't recall any SAA's with playing cards on the grips from the factory. They did make a python called "Snake Eyes" that had cards and dice on the grips. 0 -
Rat, I just looked at the seemingly endless list of all the commemoratives and special editions made by Colt through the years.There is no mention of "Riverboat Gambler" or "Gambler", going by all of the descriptions,there doesn't seem to be anything similar at all. The "Snake Eyes" would be the closest with cards and dice but it's a Python. The grips may be real ivory,or imitation ivory,both are readily available aftermarket with most any design one may desire.The grips could also have been special ordered through Colt,the only way to be sure is to get a factory letter from them,can't be done in your case because you need the serial number from the original gun and the cost of the letter would probably be more than the grips are worth.I would definitely determine if they are real ivory or imitation before putting them up for auction. 0 -

If they are grips from the "Snake Eyes"(Python-not SAA),they will have dice showing snake eyes and a royal flush poker hand.I'm not into commemoratives at all,but according to the book those were made of imitation ivory. I don't know what kind of medallions they had.It's hard to believe somebody would pay a big preminum for a commemorative and remove the original grips ...it happens I guess. 0 -

I just looked at some Colt Pythons listed on GB & the grips I have are not for them, the style is for a Single Action as I had them on a Colt Buntline w/8"+ barrel, But the Name SNAKE EYES Sure seems like its correct. The Emblem does say Colt Custom. Since I live in CT. Home of Colt I bought these years ago at a local gunshow. What I think these are factory overruns, in other words they had more grips than they made guns, or maybe they fell into a Colt's Worker Lunch Box & he didn't know it until he went home. But their sure not for a Python. Thanks RAT 0
