C&R/FFL
There is a thread on general discussion by AGLORE Subj: Idiot Seller.
The seller stated he would only send a C&R rifle to a FFL holder.
It has always been my belief that a C&R was a FFL. It is a COLLECTORS license and not a DEALERS license but it is still a FFL.
Could someone who is really an expert wade in here and try to clarify this for me. Thanks, Tom

Tom A C&R only allowes you to receive guns that are on the ATFs list of C&R eligible guns. It includes guns over 50 years old. Or guns of special interest. It dose not allow you to deal for profit.
Hope this helps you out.
There is also a sit that is very good that you might check out.

tccox, you are of course correct- a Curio and Relics License is indeed a Federal Firearms License. Type 1 FFL is for dealers, Type 2 is a special license for pawn brokers, and Type 3 is for collectors. I have read the post over on the general interest side and the buyer feels that he is being slighted by the fact that the seller won't ship him his Krag Rilfe, which is a C&R firearm...perhaps even antique.
The problem is that the seller can set his own terms as to who he will ship a firearm to. The simple fact is that although a C&R FFL is perfectly valid for the interstate shipment of a Krag rifle, a seller can insist that it go through a dealer. There is nothing in the BATF regs. that says a person cannot ask for MORE than what the law requiers for a legal transfer. I guess this guy just wants to cover his behind. I am a Type 1 dealer and I sell and ship to C&R holders all of the time and as long as I am given a valid copy of a certified C&R license I am fine with it.

Thanks Mark. However, read what REBJr came up with,a quote from the seller. he would only sell to a valid FFL holder. As I understand it, AGLORE has a valid FFL. The seller did not stipulate it had to be a DEALER FFL. I believe AGLORE has met the qualifications. If I were him I would have BATF, if possible, talk to seller and let him know it was OK. As a 30+ year Military & CS employee, I fully understand the CYA principal and have lived it myself, but sometimes it can be carried way too far. Thanks, Tom
