Ruger Red Label safety question
I am interested in getting a Red label. However, I have heard from a few, that these can "double-fire" with a single pull. True or false? Common with all makes? Or are they pulling my leg?

Animal,, first let me say welcome to the forum.. I have a red label that I have fired hundreds of rounds through, and it has never doubled on me. I have used it for both hunting and trap & skeet. I have not heard any stories of these guns doubling. If someone has one that doubles, Ruger would without a doubt fix it for free.

Among the best O/U's in the world, no matter how expensive. Like any mechanical object it could have a problem, but Ruger will stand behind their product.
These guns are beginning to develop a following as the earlier guns often had exquisite wood and beautiful checkering. They literally shout quality! The newer stainless guns are every bit as good, but perhaps have a bit less appeal (in my humble opinion).
Oh... There happen to be three in my house right now. All 20's, two in blue, one stainless, all flawless! Enough said.

Thousands of rounds through mine without a single double fire. Red Labels are heavy and seem to kick a bit more than some O/U, but they are one of the best all around O/U values available. True to ole Bill's philosophy. You can get cheaper or much more expensive O/U but few will be much better. Nord, I have a 20 & 12 and hope to pick up a 28 to round out my group. Try them animal, you will like them.

My red label is rather old as it has no choke tubes. I bought it from the estate of the late Col Charlie Beckwith, the man who started Delta Force. When it needed some work, not associated with doubling, I sent it to Ruger who quickly fixed it and shipped it to me in a new red label box at no charge. I dont know how many rnds the Colonel fired through it, but it is in great shape. You cant go wrong with Ruger. 0 -

As these guys have mentioned, Ruger WILL stand by their product especially a Red Label. First, expect no problems they are very well made. Secondly, just let them know and it will be corrected quickly and completely. I have fired my Red Label hundreds of times and have never had a double fire. 0 -

No Red Labels in 16 or .410. ever manufactured as far as I know. For sure not currently offered. However you can purchase factory .410 tubes and "convert" the 28 ga to a .410. I have never done it but I have used chamber inserts to fire 20 ga shells in my 12 ga. just for fun. I saw a set of .410 tubes on gunbroker auction not to long ago. LOL

Thanks for the info. I'm one of those people that like to have sets of stuff. I guess I'm a collector, but I shoot everything I own, so I'm not a collector in that sense.
I have Taurus revolvers in doubles; A four inch .357 and a two inch .357, a four inch .44 mag and a two inch .44 special. I have a Glock 21 and 30. I have SA full size and compact 1911s. I want 870s in all six chamberings (10 thru .410), as I have a 12. I want 1100s/1187s in all six chamberings, as I have a 12 & 20. I have a 10/22 in LR and WMR. I have a Red Label in 12 and now I crave Red Labels in 10, 16, 20, 28, & .410. Do you see the pattern of my disease. I'm hopeless. I have actually written Remington to make a 10ga 870.
