KODIAK 22WMR semi-auto RUGER ?
If you've followed my threads you know I'm a collector of O/U's, combos and any unusual 22's, short to WMR's. Like most of you I'm not concerned about the dollar value since most of my guns are rather inexpensive. But, I am curious about a couple.
This sight has been very informative, and I want to thank each of you for your help. That said, it's also been expensive. In just the last couple of weeks I've bought six guns, a couple I've been looking for for years. Thank god (or my mother-in-law) for an understanding wife.
This gun in question is stamped KODIAK North Haven, Conn. USA
Model 260 .22 WMR. No S/N other than an etched 909 in front of the trigger guard. No other markings of any kind. The butt plate has four circles like a target. It is tube fed and semi-auto. Been a while since I fired it but works well. Actually in pretty good shape. If I remember right I think I paid forty bucks for it, at a pawn shop in La. back in '69.
About a year ago I took it to Cheaper Than Dirt here in Fort Worth, almost had to fight my way out since they wanted to buy it. Once I convinced them it was not for sale, they told me it was made in what is now the Ruger factory.
Anyone got any info about the company, when it was made? And, what's the tie in with the factory thing ? I was under the impression Ruger was in Southport.
Any help would be appreciated.

Previous manufacturer located in North Haven, CT circa 1963-66.
Kodiak Co. was in business for only a short time. They produced the first .22 Mag. semi-auto rifle
(Model 260), as well as a centerfire bolt action (Model 158 Deluxe), and a slide action shotgun (Model
458). While Kodiak long guns are rare and extremely well made, collectability to date has been
minimal with most specimens selling at a slight premium over similar quality trade name counterparts
of that era. Prior to 1963, Kodiak firearms were marketed under the trade name of Jefferson.

if you ever need parts,the extractors seem to get lost on them,the colteer is the same gun.i've had to replace several.gun parts said parts unavailable but i ordered the colteer parts and they work fine.i believe kodiak made the colts. 0 -
I CAN HELP WITH PART OF YOUR QUESTION. I HAVE ONE OF THESE FINS GUNS ALSO. PRIOR TO 1968 NO SERIAL NUMBER WAS NEEDED BUY "BIG BROTHER" LET US KNOW WHAT YOU FIND ABOUT THE "RUGER ' PLANT.
I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.0
