Manufacturer of 30 M1 Carbine?

I have a 30 M1 carbine - the serial number starts with "AA" followed by five numbers but for the life of me, I can't find the name of the manufacturer anywhere on the carbine. I've owned carbines before and the manufacturers' names were always very obvious. I haven't field stripped it - I thought I'd check with you guys first to see if I'm overlooking the name somewhere on the carbine. By the way, this is not an authentic carbine - its one of the pre ban commercial copies.

  some iver johnson manufactured carbines have their name hidden by the rear sight. the double a letter prefix sounds like an i.j.
  iver johnson manufactured the m1 carbine from about 1975 until they went out of business in 1993. i know the early one were manufactured to military specs.

  capecod, AA prefix is indeed an Iver Johnson and was used starting in 1977 when the firm moved to the old Plainfield Machine Co. plant in Middlesex, New Jersey, until 1982 when the firm relocated to the former Jacksonville Ordance plant in Florida . The AA prefix indicates a standard model carbine. Serial numbers and manufacturers' address moved all over the reciever (front and back) during this period.

  i do collect iver johnson firearms but at the moment the carbines being fairly current manufacture are not in my collection.
  
  the best place to check for current prices is on some of the auction sites
  
  i do know the early production i.j. carbine are better quality than the latter ones.
