Just C --- T/C muzzle loader
When I talked about cleaning the barrel between shots it was with a presaturated No.13 patch,not alot of extra liquid cleaner on them. But back to your statement about taking 3 shots before wiping the barrel I do not know if I could get the third shot pushed down the barrel.I use Pyrodex pellets and with either the XTP240Gr.bullet,PTX250Gr.bullet, or the240Gr. Cheap Shot bullet with the black sabots I have to really shove to get the first shot down the barrel and I have only tried to put a second shot down a couple of times with out wiping the barrel and the last 6 inches I really have to shove to get the bullet to seat. For some reason the XTP300Gr. bullet and the 295Gr. Powerbelt bullet go down the barrel easier on the first shot and I have only tried a second shot once with the Powerbelt and it also shoved in hard after the first shot. If I get some time I have been thinking of trying the new Square powder charges; do not know the name of them suppose to be cleaner burning. Thanks for the input Little Al.

I often have simply taken a small piece if 2x2 and drilled a small hole in it, the size of the rod. Then, just set the rod in the hole, and give her a good shove without the pain in your hand.
I said something about the lubed patches, because they are a black powder solvent, and ANY that is left to contact your pyrodex, will most certainly affect ignition. Try doing the exact same thing, but pull your breech plug when you run the patch, and follow it with a dry patch. That may not help with how hard the bullet seats, but it may help with group size.

little al its not Cheap shot its Clean shot powder , and yes it works wonders , I use it in my T/C encore and can go 6-10 shots without cleaning the barrel ,, if I use Pyrodex pellets them I find I have to clean about very other shot, last year I snaped off my ramrod trying to shove a hard bullet home and I was useing Pyrodex at the time,,, if I do clean between shots I run a patch soaked with solvent followed up by several dry patches and them snap a couple of caps before loading . 0 -
I USE A HOMEMADE CONCOCTION TO CLEAN MY TC ENCORE. IT IS EQUAL PARTS RUBBING ALCOHOL, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, AND MURPHYS OIL SOAP. WHEN I AM HAVING TROUBLE SEATING SABOTS, I HAVE FOUND THAT AFTER GETTING THE SABOT STARTED WITH THE SHORT STARTER, I CAN PUT A LIGHTLY WETTED PATCH OF THIS CLEANER ON THE RAMROD AND SEATING THE SABOT IS MUCH EASIER. IT KEEPS THE BARREL CLEANER AND DOES NOT EFFECT ACCURRACY. I WOULD ONLY RECCOMEND DOING THIS DURING RANGE SESSIONS AND NOT PRIOR TO HUNTING. IF YOU DECIDE TO MIX SOME OF THIS STUFF, KEEP IT IN AN OPAQUE CONTAINER, LIKE THE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE BOTTLE.

A minor problem I have had stroking my Black Diamond is the rod getting stuck and I cannot pull it out. Knight makes a nifty aluminum handle which srews to the rod and makes inserting and removing the rod a breeze. Not as cheap as JustC's wooden block, but works both ways and fits easily in my shooting bag. 0 -
Have you ever heard the term spit patch? All this amounts to is taking a cleaning patch(45, 50, 54, or 58 cal) put the patch in your mouth and chew it for a few seconds, then swab out your barrel. It works wonders if you do this betwen each shot. I have one of the new T/C 50 cal Omega in-line muzzleloaders and I shoot clean shot pellets. I shot my rifle at least 15 time useing the spit patch between each shot.All the bullets went down the barrel without useing exsess force on the ramrod. I also use the 240gg XTP bullets and black sabots. I can shoot less than 2" at 100 yards with 2 50 gr clean shot pellets. It works great and it only costs the price of a cleaning patch unless you make your on patch then it is free. Good luck 0
