Wolf ammo - COLD temps
This was a test... In July I took an AR15 shooting, Shot 40 rds in it with the Wolf ammo, NO PROBLEMS. Did not clean the AR, ( Yes I do clean my guns ) Yesterday it was 32 outside, Put 3 rds in a mag, this was SA ammo. Chambered a round in the dirty AR.. It did fire, BUT! The case did not kick out . Had to take a cleaning rod, to pound the case out.. and it did not come out EZ. Chambered a rd again and it did fire, Case was stuck again. Then we took a Mini 14 SS, and Wolf ammo and shot 20 rds fast.. The Mini worked good. Let the mini sit for about 20 min in the cold, went and had coffee.. And then shot 1 rd, and the case was stuck! I know I will never use the WOLF CRAP, again... Just thought this woud be if interest...

I am sorry to hear about your problems with Wolf .223 ammo. I have shot about 500 rounds through my AR 180 hot, cold and in between and have had no issues at all. Maybe my ammo is a different lot ant that could be your problem. Maybe my rifle is more tollerent. Maybe it is something else. All I know is that .223 Wolf ammo works for me. 0 -
Did you clean your AR, after shooting it each time? What was your cold temps??

I clean my AR 180 after every 200rounds or so. Soooo I did not clean after every shooting. The average cold temp was just above freezing. 0 -
First off, I am Not an expert! I'm wondering though, was the ammunition at the same temperature as the weapon? Most of us like to carry ammunition next to the body for quick access. The AR has a deserved reputation for close tolerances. Cold weapon - contracts.....warm ammunition - minutely expanded = stuck case? Am I hot? Cold? All wet? Just a thought.......

Check out www.olyarms.com/usa.html for a possible answer to your question. Click on the "Ammunition Warning" link at the top of the page. I know plenty of people who have fired WOLF ammo in their AR-15's without a hitch so this may or may not be an answer to your question. 0 -
I stopped buying Wolf when 8 cases out of 50, 45ACP, split and failed to eject in my HK USP 45. 0 -
Thanks for the info.

Maybe your AR 180, is not close tolerances, as Towboat said .... Remember that this ammo was made for AK type of a gun, as in tolerances.

Good to see a gun manufacturer state what works and what doesn't in regards to ammo. I always had a gut feeling about Wolf.
