Weaver Scope

A friend has a weaver scope that needs repair. Are they still in business?
Dealer told him water got inside and if he opened it up the gas would leak out. How can water get in without gas not getting out?
Is there a place that repairs scopes reasonable? Thanks

    does anyone know if the weaver scopes like the T- series are made in the usa or elsewhere...

    The dealer's comment was, of course, ridiculous. Until the later '40's, however, Weaver scopes were not sealed. Modern scopes are sealed; if the seal is broken, the nitrogen gas escapes and moisture gets in.

    Weaver is still in business, but they only repair recent scopes. You didn't give the scope model #; it may not be worth repairing. If it is a 330, M8, or M73B1, your friend needs to talk to me.

    Thanks for the information. I think the scope is probably at least 20 years old. Do not know model. Was mounted on a Rem 721 I will inform him of the options.

    Give them a call. I sent one for repair a few weeks ago.

    You send your scope to them with description of trouble.
    They check it out and send you notice what it will cost to repair.
    If it's too much they send it back, you pay shipping.
    The new Weaver doen't repair old Weavers.


    You can't miss fast enough.

    The Weaver Scope Repair Service in El Paso, Texas doesn't repair Weaver scopes that are foreign made but most certainly does repair the older Weaver scopes that were made in El Paso, Texas before 1984. If you have an old Weaver scope, they can repair it. Thought I'd clear that up as I was confused after reading the above posts by some other members.

    I talked to the guy in El Paso that does the repairs on the old Weaver scopes, and he not only repairs old weaver scopes, but he will basically make you a new weaver scope out of new parts he has, if you want one. He seemed like he really knew his stuff, of course he should, that's what he does for a living.
