need help deciding on a in-line muzzleloader

I am preparing to upgrade to an inline m.loader, but there are so many different kinds out there. I like thompson center, but their new Omega is 400.00 and up with scope!! A friend of mine has the Winchester X-150 and it shoots awesome groups, but once again is very expensive. If i want to spend aroung 350-400 dollars (scope included) which ones do you guys recommend. Accuracy it of utmost importance to me.

    I have been right pleased with my TC Black Diamond. I believe I paid about $250 at Cabela's, so you may well find it cheaper.

    I just received a Austin & Halleck 50cal muzzleloader from basspro that i will be sending back since i don't care for the stock.If you would be interested i would sell it to you instead of returning it to basspro for the same price i paid. Hunter

    Be sure to check out the Knight line of muzzleloaders, Fine rifles, my Bighorn Magnum has yet to let me down- Ralph

    Has anyone shot the Thompson Center Omega yet? How well does that shoot? Another problem is that within any given brand, one can spend from 100 dollars on up, so how does one know how much to spend?

    I would go with a Knight. Most use Green River barrels, even the inexpensive lk-93, GR barrels are considered by most traditional black powder shooters as the best choice when building a custom rifles. So this should carry over into in lines as well... The LK-93 can be had for under $200 and even has an adjustable trigger. The other one I would cosider would be the Savage which uses smokeless powder.

    I will also recommend a Knight. Excellent rifles. I will shoot mine against the Winchester anyday. Mine is the LK92 in stainless. Cost around $250 less scope. I've got a nice Remington 700ML blued with scope for around $300 if you are intrested.

    The Knight Wolverine (LK-93) sells for around 220.00. How much are you going to shoot this muzzleloader? My guess is it won't be shot over 15 times the first year you get it and less than 10 any year after that. Why spend mega bucks on a gun that doesn't get used that much? The Knights do a good job and are easy to take down and clean. I'll bet it will shoot with your friends guns. GHD

    I don't know which guns come with adjustable triggers, but my Knight Disc & Wolverine both have them. A very nice feature. The Wolverine has to be taken completely apart to clean the barrel - the Disc doesn't (just remove the bolt & breechplug). I don't know about others.

    Just a couple of things to look for.......

    I own a knight LK-93 in stainless steel.It shoots as good as the knight rifle that sales for over $500,wolverine does not have the fancy stock but it does have adjustable trigger.

    I HAVE THE THOMPSON CENTER ENCORE WITH THE 209X50 MUZZLELOADER BARREL. YOU WOULD HAVE TO SPEND A LITTLE MORE ($450-$550 USED OR NEW)BUT WOULD HAVE THE OPTION OF ADDING OTHER RIFLE OR PISTOL BARRELS IN MANY CALIBERS. MINE SHOOTS GREAT WITH TWO (2) 50 GRAIN PYRODEX PELLETS AND SABOTED HORNADY 300 GRAIN HP/XTP BULLETS.

    For what its worth I will give you my opinion.
    The T/C Omega is by far the best M/L out there. The design is the best ever,no reciever to add length, so the 28 in. bbl still makes it no longer overall.you get more velocity because of the extra bbl. The lever that drops the action open is all you have to use to get to the breech plug for cleaning.the breech opens for placing the 209 primer with just your fingers. the breech block cams tightly closed making it weatherproof, you also get no blowback gases on your scope etc. like with others. as for accuracy mine cuts the first hole shot with the second shot @ 100 yds.I have sold some to customers at our shop and they report the same accuracy.
    I dont think there is better one to get.

    The Thompson/Center Arms Encore 209x50 Magnum is by far the most versatile. It's a bit costly but well worth the money if you want to purchase additional barrels. I've got one and have added the .225 and 22-250 barrels.
