Got some great feedback on a handgun purchase, now looking for opinions on laser sights. Grip vs. internal? Brand? Reliability issues? Thanks

Forget about laser sights,learn to use the issue sights.If you can't see your sights,you can't see your target and don't need to shoot.Laser sights are fragile,batteries(in any electric device!)always seem to go dead when you want them most.A quality laser sight cost as much as a gun,the $100 price range stuff that clamp onto triggerguard are a joke.Good Luck!!

Im not a big fan of the Laser I have 3 two on carbines and a Crimpson Trace on a Ruger.I like the grip laser better,just my opinion.

Like the guys said, they're pretty useless for most of us. I heard 1 LEO describe how a bad guy being arrested at night surrendered when the red dot hit his chest, but this kind of scenario is rare. Despite claims that they work in daylight, you will waste valuable time trying to pick up the dot. Stick with the basics.

I put a Lasermax internal laser in my Glock 22 and love it. The only problem I have experienced was the slide lock spring needed a slight adjustment but it was easily fixed and I did it myself. I ordered an extra battery pack and a cap and they sent me three of each and a new slide stop spring so their service is great. I have fired about 1500 rounds with the laser and It functions flawlessly. Its a blast at night too, and I would imagine it to be a great tool as far as deterance is concerned. An intruder is not likely to argue with you when he is lit up. As far as accuracy is concerned mine is within an inch at 25 yards as best as I can tell. There are no adjustments and they install in less than 5 minutes. I concider it to be a great tool, user friendly, accurate and dependable. I bought mine from Blue Mountain Police and Fire. Todd works for the DNR and is a good guy to do buisness with. I paid $265 + shipping and it came straight from the Lasermax Factory. Lasermax is the only NATO approved laser sight, If you get one you'll not regret it. Good Luck, Scott D.

I have a Lasermax internal laser in a Glock 29. I last have Trijicon nite sights too. The lasermax replaces your factory guide rod and recoil springs.

The laser functions well and it is accurate. It lines up with the regular sights. I think, I had the laser in before even firing the gun for the 1st time. So from round one and on...the Gock has had the lasermax laser in it. I have about 600 round through the gun. Not a single jam or malfunction. You can get extra batteries from lasermax, or you can get them from Radio Shack

The laser is expensive...but it is one of the best. You get what you pay for.

You will use it far less than you think. But if you want one, get one.

I must admit, that laser ended a confrontation rather quickly without incident one night. So it was money well spent.

If you want to try a laser, the internal LaserMax is the best in my opinion. It is far from fragile, and the batteries will not fail unexpectedly. These sights have a lifetime guarantee as I recall.

All the comments about their tactical successes and failures have some merit. You will have to decide for yourself how it will work for you. I think the positives far outweight the negatives, plus they are just fun to use while plinking. I look on the sight as an optional device that is there if you want to use it, and which can be ignored or left off if desired.

The LaserMax now costs about half what it cost when I got mine that I have in a Beretta M92. Try it, you will like it!

The Lasermax works and works very well. Have one in a Beretta 96. Never a problem and alot of fun to use. Prices are way down from when I purchased mine. I see them now for about $265.

I'm not gettin into the +/- of lasers on defense handguns but I've found them to work well for training purposes when used in conjunction with the regular sights. I can watch the laser and tell exactly where the sights were. I can also see a flinch or trigger jerk. They work well enough for what I want from them.
