Mossberg 22

i have a mossberg model 42b that the stock is broken i was wondering what all model stocks would interchange with it like would a model 42 stock work? thanks for any info

  I have an old Mossberg 22 bolt rifle. It has a rather large stock and a heavy barrel.
  It is marked Model 44 US(d)
  Can anyone give me some information on the gun, or where I can look for information?

  Clair, The Mossberg 44 series had a life span from around 1938 up until about 1950. There were quite a few sub-types of that rifle- usually just a change in sights and things like extractors. The US series began production in 1943 and was used as the standard training rifle by the military during WWII and well beyond. Your US(d) model is a post war rifle and the last of the type produced.
  
  The Civilain Marksmanship Program has released thousands of surplus M44US rifles over the past few years at a very low cost- $75. I don't know what, if any, effect that has on the value of commercial M44's, but it has made that series more noticed by both collectors and shooters. Like all Mossberg's, these were always good solid rifles and you should get a lot of pleasure out of it.

  There is a Mossberg Collectors Society, that carries parts, scopes, and trades info on all Mossberg guns. They have a website, they are a great source of info on all the old guns.
