Imbel vs FAC FAL reciever?
I was wondering which receiver is better for a FAL build up? An Imbel or FAC (Federal Arms Corp )?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Most reviewers say DSA first, then Imbel. FAC would be dead last. 0 -
I disagree.
I and most of my friends will use an Imbel first.
After all,it was made in a FN licensed plant.
The DSAs are vey nice also.

Diablo, I have 5 FAL types and an L1A1 but no experiences with either the DSA or FAC receivers. I do have a FAL built on an Imbel receiver that I purchased some years back. It works perfecly and all the metric FAL parts will interchange. It also accepts my FAL .22 conversion unit so the deminsions are spot on. IMBEL has been building FAL recievers for many years and have the FN license and technical know how to do the job right. I also have a FAL built on an Argentine receiver (marked SAR-4800) and it too is excellent quality.
This was not a Springfield built rifle, I purchased the reciver on "the loose" and used my own parts kit from Pedro Bella, imported from many years ago. Argentina is another licensed producer of the FAL and I have no complaints with the receivers quality.
I agree that the prices are getting out of hand on the licensed FAL rifles...but what can you say? If there are people willing to pay those prices, more power to them!

Well it looks like I will get an Imbel reciever. They quality seems to be good and they see easy to find.

Check back issues of Soldier of Fortune and Gun Tests. The Imbel receiver is not as strong as the DSA, as the latter has a superior
heat treatment. Doing something longer does not always mean doing it better.0 -
Just to satisfy my curiosity what exactly did they say about the extra strength of the DSA receiver- tensil strength, Rockwell hardness, shear strength? I know we have a few experts on the forum who work in the metals industry, they've educated me on a few things. I'd like to find out more about this extra strength and the effects of a superior heat treatment to firearms metals in general. .
T-bolt, I tried to read the articles but you have to download the info and everytime I've ever tried to do this on ANYTHING I've either failed, lost the file, could not find the file, or got a mess as the result. I'm no sort of expert with a computer. I'll take your word for the articles contents. Thank you for the help anyway.

Go to www.dsarms.com and check the different magazine articles listed there. These articles are from independent gun magazines and most select the DSA over all other Fals tested. 0 -

Insults do not chasnge the facts. I wish I were still young. As to naive, I'd rather believe results than wishful thinking. Gun Tests accepts no advertising, so they have nothing to gain by praising junk, unlike some magazines. However, no magazine can continually lie to their customers and stay in business. DSA Fals simply beat out the competition in almost any standard you name: hardness of receiver, fit and finish and accuracy. Name any area where Imbel beats DSA as recognized by any firearms authority (other than being in business longer). The FAC receivers aren't even in the contest. I would be happy with an Imbel (if it was all I could get) just as I am happy to drive a Chevy. But there are Rolls Royces out there, and the DSA FAL is just that! 0 -
