polymer vs. all steel

my work horse pistols are both
.40 cal the polymer frame is good for concealed carry
but lacks as a shooting gun recoil is heavy
my all steel gun is to heavy for concealed carry
but is great for shooting better weight balance
which one would be better as the all around
self defense pistol

  Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer choice, mate. This is entirely a matter of personal preference and like anal orifices, everyone has their own opinion in such matters.

  I happen to have a compact polymer 40 (Glock) and it shoots just as well as a heavier gun. Maybe it's because I'm used to more powerful guns, but the recoil isn't so bad. If your gun will accept it, try a Hogue Handall rubber sleeve. I prefer heavier guns only because I like them for their design and loads in 45 ACP and 357 magnum.

  I prefer steel first, then a polymer guns with steel reinforcing inserts.
