compensated barrel

hi new to the gun buying portion of my life . i saw an ad for a glock 19 with a compensated barrel what does that mean thanks steve

  Hope the subject of my FUBAR Commander isn't getting on anyone's nerves yet. I know it's too late to avoid being a pain in the A$$.BUT......I remember seeing a barrel for a 1911 that had a compensator attached. Anybody else seen anything like that?If so, do you remember where?Mudge

  By compensated I assume you mean the extended barrel with the compensator on it, and not a ported barrel. If so, the extra barrel length will still give the original, (or close to it), muzzle velocity while reducing recoil. the compensator ports the gasses upwards, which will reduce muzzle climb and therefore perceived recoil. Anytime you port a barrel, you have reduced the muzzle velocity, but by extending the barrel, and attaching the compensator forward of where the original muzzle would have been, you have kept the original velocity.
