FEG v. CZ
I have been looking at a CZ75B in 9mm but see that the FEG PJK-9HP is also a single action based on the Browning HighPower. It is cheaper that the CZ and actually looks more like the Browning than the CZ. I know the CZ to be a good gun but am wondering if anyone has had any experience with that model FEG, especially as to durabiliy and trigger pull.

The CZ shouldn't look like a Browning, because it is its own design. The CZ 75 is the second most copied pistol that I know of. The CZ75B is not a single action. It is a Transitional Double action and a very fine one at that and not a copy of, or looks like anything. the only CZ's I know of which ard SA are some which are built to be race guns.

Greetings Mr. Christian, Those who know handguns know that CZ 75's breech is locked by a Browning-type Cam and take down of the two pistols (CZ 75 and High Power)is, for all intents and purposes, identical. There are only a hand full of pistol actions types and the idea that Koucky brother's, who designed the 75, developed the action used in that pistol is absurd- although the communist Czech Government at the time may have tried to pass that notion off, they were about half a century late on that design! All you need to do is compare the actions from the CZ 75 and High Power (as I am now doing) and you can plainly see who copied whom.
With that out of the way I have to say that other than the low price, the FEG has little to recommend it. Compared to the CZ 75 fit and finish on the FEG is a cut below the Czech pistol. The sights on the FEG are very small and hard to use for either target shooting or defensive purposes. The FEG also has a poor trigger! Even though it is SA, the trigger pull is heavy, has a lot of creep and feels gritty. A good trigger job would no doubt help the gun, but you are now spending more money. The CZ also offers DA if that means anything to you. All and all, I'd say that if you were thinking about the CZ 75 I'd go ahead with that pistol and pass on the FEG. The Hungarian gun is okay if you are on a TIGHT budget, but will need new sights and a trigger job as first order of business. The 75 is ready to go as issued. Don't let anyone B.S. you about the 75 being a "new" wonder design though, it is just another Browning and John Moses was a genius, that is why his disigns are the ones that are copied.

Hello,
I have both and shoot them intandum often.
The FEG is a true Hipower knock off the finish and fit on mine is as good as any polished blued Browning (you dont see that anymore). It is a fun gun to shoot and has given me no trouble. The FEG safety is small and the gun has had the mag. safety removed ( you can do it yourself) which improved the trigger 1000%.Hi caps are available for both guns. Both guns are more accurate than me with the edge going to the FEG.
It is the CZ I would keep hands down. Double action is there if you need it and has a great and deserved reputation for reliability.0 -
Flinch, what high caps interchange with the FEG hi-po? (CZ, TZ, Jerico, Baby eagle?)

Hello Interstatepawnllc, Any mags made for the Browning Hipower will fit the FEG Hipower clone. CDNN has some 15 and 17 rounders for less than $20. They work perfectly. 0 -
