AK-47 WITH AMERICAN PARTS
my a.k type was imported by century arms
as is perhaps many of yours
and it is made with american parts
my question is:
which parts are american made, and what is the quality compaired to those made by the original manufacturer

Sec. 922(r) makes it unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semi-auto rifle which would otherwise be non importable...like semi-auto AK-47 rifles. An imported semi-auto rifle can contain no more than ten of these twenty listed parts: Frame, barrel, barrel extention, trunnion, muzzel attachments, bolt, bolt carrier, operating rod, gas piston, trigger housing, triggers, hammers, sears, disconnectors, buttstocks, pistol grips, forearms, magazine bodies, followers, and floor plates. Which of these parts the manufacturer chooses to use is based mostly on how difficult it would be to manufacture/obtain an identical USA made part. It is clearly easier and cheaper to get a butt stock made here than to have a new bolt carrier manufactured!
There have been many posts dealing with the quality of various post- ban AK type rifles. On a few I've seen the USA made parts are the best looking parts on the entire rifle! Only the importer can tell you for sure which parts are original and which are domestic manufacture.
