gun packing for shipment
I have a cardboard gun box and the outer sleeve, not original. Before I put the gun in the box to ship, what should I do to it? Can I wrap it in bubble wrap? What type of packing should I do?

Are you sending it to another dealer? the manufacturer or a buddy. Long gun or hand gun?
Go to the US Postal Service web site and look up Publication #52, Restricted material. Go to section 44 and read what they have to say. Pub 52 only applies to US Post Office shipment.
If shipping by UPS, they will give you a hassel but they will take it if you demand them to. Usually overnight shipment only, and dealer to dealer.
FedEx is better but they usually want it to go overnight.
USPS priority is still the best way.
Use both boxes. Use bubble wrap on the gun, not the box. Address on both boxes. DO NOT Indicate it is a firearm on either box. Follow shippers packaging instruction to the letter. Insure it for at least its replacement value in todays money. MORE is BETTER. Then let them loose it.
Good luck and take an extra handkerchief for the bloody lip caused from biting it.0
