taurus slide wont lock back!!
i bought a taurus , and after firing the last round, 60% of the time the slide wont lock back, any ideas?? i use 180grn loaded to the max charge so i know its getting enough force, help me...

You didnt say what Model or Caliber,but it sounds like 180gr its a .40 caliber.Its the Magazine,Ive heard Taurus is selling their fire arms with only one Mag or I would ask if you have tried a new mag.First if you know how to disassemble the mag check and see if theres excess grease preventing your follower from comeing all the way up.Or better advice would be to contact Taurus and tell them of your problem.There very pleasant to deal with and offer a life time warranty.If you only have the one Mag and they want you to send it back.Tell them that is your main Defense gun,and they may just send you a new one.

You should get at least a second mag in any event so you can rotate them if you keep your gun loaded for defense.

yea, I'd say 90% of the time, when the slide doesn't lock back, its cause of the magazine

The specific mag problem is that the Beretta mags have a different slot cut into them. They are not EXACT fit interchangeable even though they will cycle fine. rg 0 -
The plastic follower in the magazine is supposed to push the slide stop up and lock the slide. The follower is made of plastic and either could be deformed due to poor molding etc. or the magazine spring could be weak. The slot on the side of the magazine allows the "shelf" of the follower to engage the slide stop. The "shelf" on the follower will usually be where the variance is found causing the aggravation. I had three mags with my PT101 two would engage the slide stop and one wouldn't. It doesn't take much variance in the follower to cause this, the naked eye couldn't tell the difference. It's unfortunate that if the ledge is too low there's no way I know of to raise it, which is no doubt the problem because the slide stop is not pushed up enough. (If it were too high you could trim but not enough, well....)

No, I'm not the guy. I happened to stumble back into his business and lo & behold he was back in the gun business big time. He had almost gotten out of it for awhile. I was looking for a .357, since I had about 1,000 rounds of .357 & .38 combined sitting around with no gun. (Another long story there) So, naturally you got to buy a gun to go with the ammo right? Well of course you do. I traded the Taurus for a Ruger wheelgun. I live North of Meridian,MS.
I never could get the guy on the phone because he was "online" (no 2nd line) then figured out the rest when he couldn't sell me an AK in his shop because he had "listed it for auction".

yeah i know, i saw some great weapons in his auction, but the guy
is a big time crook, he lies repeatedly and tells people that his weapons are new, when it is obvious by the pictures that they are not. ive also noticed that no one seems to bid on his auctions, it serves him right. i am a bit dissapointed by gb because they continue to allow this guy to sell and get away with it. it bothers me a bit becuase i hate to see people get screwed over, it makes people weary about buying firearms online-

...As long as your slide lock functions....it's your magazine. Something you might try ( because I will admit I did this once ) is disassembling the magazine and turning the spring around and re-assembling it. I had my USP spring in upside-down once and the slide would only lock back about half the time, also. Once I fixed it, the problem went away. Damn things ought to be marked...
Or it could just be old. Do like the others say and try it with a new mag.
