Tweaver, Lllama has been around since around 1905 and is a survivor of what used to be a thriving Spanish handgun industry. Both Star and Astra are gone but Llama is still in business, although their importation is much more limited today than it once was. Import Sports, 1750 Brielle Ave. Unit B1, Wanamassa, NJ 07712 is the current importer. I show a phone number of 908-493-0302. They should have magazines or you can try Forrest Inc., @ 619-561-5800. They show magazines for several Llama models, including .38 Super.

Your pistol is either a Model 7 or Model 8, it depends on whether or not it has a grip safety. The Model 7 was introduced in 1952 and discontinued in 1955 when the Model 8 with its grip safety was brought on the market. Llama's seem to have both fans as well as detractors. The pistols I've seen from the 1960's were very well made and most are still quite serviceable today. Your Llama retailed for $71.50 back in the late sixties while a Colt Government model in .38 Super cost $105. The $35 price difference made the Llama's VERY popular with shooters back then. Due to previous bad experiences I never quote prices or values...but there are a large number of self proclaimed experts who I'm sure will be happy to lend a hand with that information.

From the Llama's we sold in the 80's, they were junk. This was the 45 and 380 semi-autos. I can't even begin to count the number we had to send back for warranty work.

Sax: It may be "yama" in Spanish, but stateside (English) it is pronounced as "lama". Check out "The Emperor's New Groove."

I am the sad owner of a yyyama Omni, double action in 45acp. The adjustable sights fell apart after about 50 rounds. Llama sent me parts to fix it for free. After another 50 rounds the windage screw broke in half. The gun has been just sitting in the safe for the last 12 years. Not a big fan of Yyyyyyyamas amigo!

I had one in 380. Good looking gun, poor performer.
