teflon coated barrel
Hi I have recentley purchased a stainless fluted barrel for a Rem.700 I am thinking about haveing it teflon coated I plan on riding it hard and puting it up wet as the saying gos anyway my question is how well will the teflon coating hold up to all the bumps and knocks??? Thanks Ray.

Why not save your money? The stainless will stand up to anything teflon will. You may not want to see scratches, but you will see them in teflon just as much, only a different color. When you want to remove the marks from the stainless barrel, just have it bead blasted and it looks new, for far less. Just my .02

JustC makes a lot of sense. I wish I had a dollar for every teflon pan I have thrown away. The 2 greatest enemies of teflon are: high temperature and abrasion.
The only coating for stainless steel that I know of that is used by a major gun manufacturer is nickle plating (Winchester's M1300 Stainless Marine barrel). I wouldn't bother unless you have daily exposure to salt spray.
